Hit me baby, one more time!

Wow, am I ever glad denim is becoming a "trend" again. (Not that it's ever totally unpopular, because everyone wears jeans, but we'll put it this way - I'm glad I can wear my denim jacket again without getting (verbally) beaten up by some Prada-wearing chump.) I'm especially excited with all the new innovative ways to wear denim this season. Just please don't pull a K-Fed/Britney (you all remember that picture, right? Matching denim-on-denim! *shudders*).

Thankfully, some celebs know how to do it right.

All three of these ladies know how to make a statement with just one gorgeous piece. I also like how their looks are all undone, casual, rock-chic. That's what denim this season should be about!

Then there are the not-so-fortunate fashion-challeneged girls...

Let's clear this up: denim-on-denim is NEVER acceptable, ever. Got it, Jessica? It makes you look like an 80's love-child slob and is embarrassing for both yourself and your little girl. And, apparently, Hayden doesn't have a clue how to dress to suit her body type, because both her jeans and her shirt are incredibly unflattering and hit all the wrong places. Use your denim for good, not evil!

I have to admit I have a serious case of denim-lust right now. I yearn for a happier time, filled with terrible 90s catch-phrases, the last of the leg-warmers, and greasy, gelled hair. ..... Too bad I'll soon be a starving college kid, living in dismal 2010. :'( You guys will have to buy all these fabu pieces and wear them, just for me, mmmmkay?

066. | Daisy Dukes, bikinis on top.

Just a short post today to let you all know I'm not dead. (I might as well be, though, because I've been sick for the past two weeks and my body has pretty much given up on functioning at an intelligent, energetic level. Erg.) While the sun shines outside and my friends party day&night, I'm stuck inside watching daytime television, reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and trying not to tear out my swollen tongue/throat/lungs in frustration and boredom. I love summer vacation.

Endless hours of music videos and the internet have kept my spirits up a little, however. Katy Perry's "California Gurls" has been playing over and over in my head as my mind makes a feeble attempt to convince itself that I will soon be, post-recovery, a hot, luscious Californian, frolicking in the sand with lollipops and cute beach boys. Sigh. THE SONG IS JUST SO GODDAMN CATCHY. (And Katy's cute. ♥)

(Is it just me, or has Miss Katy suddenly got a bit more goin' on up top in her lady cupcakes? See picture 3. Hmm...)

& one last thing -
TOTD: Men in pink: sexy or not? Lemme know.

057. | I should let go, but there's no antidote. Your love is like poison.

I DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS TAYLOR SWIFT. OMGWHUTNOCURLZ?!?!?11!

(Uhm, yeah. I saw this picture in a magazine and was wildly confused. I'm sorry, but THIS DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE RAT FACE I KNOW AND love LOVE TO HATE. Agree?)

Ahem.

On another note, because Canada is apparently BATSHIT INSANE, it snowed yesterday. (No, not even "snowed": it blizzard-ed. 9 inches of snow? IN APRIL? knothanx.) So, although I'm angry that I can no longer wear the awesome sunglasses and tanks I bought mere weekends ago for spring, I did have an excuse to break out some of my favorite cuddly clothes.

Yeah. Badass. >:)

I want this. SO BADLY. I don't care that it probably reminds everyone of a) cotton-candy colored vomit b) the circus, or c) gay-pride parades. I HEART ITTTT.

(No, this is not me. Although we do look quite similar. She just looks super cozy.)

So...maybe it shouldn't be spring-y for a while. I'm kinda diggin' this look...

045. | I like to bite my nails and play the air guitar.

I'm hardcore girl-crushing on Miss Emily Osment. Not only is she cute and silly on Hannah Montana, but in real life, too! (Plus, her music's damn catchy. Can't get it outta my brain!) MuchMusic is promoting her like crazy for some reason, so I got to see her lovely face all day on the tube. Oh, how I wish I had her killer locks and svelte bod...

035. | I've got my nautical-themed pashmina afghan.

Watched the Lovely Bones with S and stuffed myself full of greasy, pimple-inducing theatre popcorn last night. It was a good time. Although the movie was really excellent, I do enjoy the book more. (Isn't that always the case?) The special effects were done better than I had anticipated, and Mr. Harvey was sufficiently nightmare-inspiringly-creepy, while Susie was sufficiently innocent and naive. (Oh, and yay for an actual plotline!)

Saoirse Ronan is definitely on my radar now. The girl can dress! (And, um, act. ^^')

ps. Semester 2 > Semester 1. Just sayin'. (I don't even mind the ridiculous amounts of math I'm doing. I'm just glad I'm done Social FOREVER.)

1.31.2010

034. | Creatures lie here, looking through the windows.

My recent model jealousy? Towards Tao Okamoto. This Japanese superbabe could make Crocs and a Snuggie look cute. Sigh. If only I had those long, lithe legs... (At least I've got the hair!)

1.30.2010

032. | Ya gotta rub me the right way.

Mrs. XXX-tina Aguilera.

I love this girl. She's changed so much over the years, both vocally and stylistically (is that even a word? - she can make pregnancy sexy!), yet legions of fans adore her every move. I have to admit that I haven't always been a fan, but her music is catchy and makes me dance. What more can I ask for?

Oh, and her music? Keeps gettin' better.

1.29.2010

031. | I see her in a smokey room; the smell of wine and cheap perfume.

I am. OBSESSED. with GLEE.

I totally, openly admit that I'm a full-blown Gleek. I admit that seeing an ad on TV for the new April season makes me pee my pants (just a little). I admit that I re-watch season one on DVD obsessively, looking for little tidbits and lines that I may have missed before. I admit that I have memorized the "Glee-version" of all the songs that they sing, and know many of them better than the actual songs they're based on. I admit that I have memorized the "Single Ladies" dance on the football field and sometimes spontaneously burst into the routine.

I also admit that Kurt is the cutest, most well-dressed gay boy that I've ever seen, and that I wish he was my best friend (sorry, J, but you're still my favorite REAL gay guy). :D

030. | Sheena is a parasite!

Sometimes, when I'm searching through artists for something to listen to on my iPod, I realize that I've let these precious British gems slip through the cracks. Again.

I'm so sorry, The Horrors. Please forgive me? I promise to worship your over-gelled hair and running eyeliner forever!

...Ahem.

On another note, I (finally!) got the chance to watch Whip It last night, and boy oh boy is it good.

Ellen Page is legit my favorite actress. EVER. She makes her characters all seem so real and emotionally complex, while coming off as genuine, rather than cheesy. Drew Barrymore also proved she had some directorial chops for this film. I was, I admit, a little surprised by how much I liked this movie.

These girls have some serious skills (and a high pain tolerance!). Kinda makes me wanna get into roller derby...and maybe meet a hot guitarist along the way, too? Sigh...

I WANTWANTWANT Ellen's zebra tshirt! GRAWR! Lovely.

& I just loveloveloved all the random fashion in this movie! If I were into roller derby, I would dress like Ellen's character, Bliss, 24/7.

I give you a crappy rendition of the various outfits worn in said movie:

024. | If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it.

The best thing that ever happened to Burberry - Emma Watson. <3 J'adore this girl. INFINITELY. She's come along way from the Philosopher's Stone, I'll say that much... She's always wearing something sparkly, furry, or warm, and knows just how to flatter her figure. + (I envy her gorgeous cheekbones! You could slice bread with those things!)
