Hit me baby, one more time!

Wow, am I ever glad denim is becoming a "trend" again. (Not that it's ever totally unpopular, because everyone wears jeans, but we'll put it this way - I'm glad I can wear my denim jacket again without getting (verbally) beaten up by some Prada-wearing chump.) I'm especially excited with all the new innovative ways to wear denim this season. Just please don't pull a K-Fed/Britney (you all remember that picture, right? Matching denim-on-denim! *shudders*).

Thankfully, some celebs know how to do it right.

All three of these ladies know how to make a statement with just one gorgeous piece. I also like how their looks are all undone, casual, rock-chic. That's what denim this season should be about!

Then there are the not-so-fortunate fashion-challeneged girls...

Let's clear this up: denim-on-denim is NEVER acceptable, ever. Got it, Jessica? It makes you look like an 80's love-child slob and is embarrassing for both yourself and your little girl. And, apparently, Hayden doesn't have a clue how to dress to suit her body type, because both her jeans and her shirt are incredibly unflattering and hit all the wrong places. Use your denim for good, not evil!

I have to admit I have a serious case of denim-lust right now. I yearn for a happier time, filled with terrible 90s catch-phrases, the last of the leg-warmers, and greasy, gelled hair. ..... Too bad I'll soon be a starving college kid, living in dismal 2010. :'( You guys will have to buy all these fabu pieces and wear them, just for me, mmmmkay?

Your creations of unexpected beauty and style will be forever missed. You were a visionary, a leader, and an extraordinary human being. We will all miss you. Rest in peace.

Le sigh. On to happier things.
While reading Death of a Salesman in English today, our batshit teacher started going on about Victorian hair art (which stemmed from our original conversation about a diamond watch fob; go figure). Turns out this stuff is pretty ornate.

"Jewelry made with hair is dated back to at least the 1600's, when hair bracelets were given as love tokens by both men and women."

"Hair was valued for sentimental reasons at a time when there were no photographs."

"Today there are only a few Hair Artists who are making this type of jewelry. There are no schools where one can go for instructions, so this art is self taught. An enormous amount of time is spent learning the different techniques. Hair Art like any other art is a constantly evolving process."

Although the idea is really unique, I personally don't think I could wear someone else's hair on my wrist or ears or shirt... gives me the creeps. What about you?

ps. Friends' 18th this Saturday. Drunken pictures will surely follow. :D

032. | Ya gotta rub me the right way.

Mrs. XXX-tina Aguilera.

I love this girl. She's changed so much over the years, both vocally and stylistically (is that even a word? - she can make pregnancy sexy!), yet legions of fans adore her every move. I have to admit that I haven't always been a fan, but her music is catchy and makes me dance. What more can I ask for?

Oh, and her music? Keeps gettin' better.

025. | Hit me, baby, one more time!

I feel guilty when I go online to blog and neglect studying for any significant amount of time. :( Consciences stink (and so do diploma exams)!

Clueless was playing on MUCH yesterday, and it got me thinking about 90s fashion trends...

I don't know about you, but I've realized there's nothing I miss about that fashion era. *shudder*

022. | I just wanna try you on.

(No, I really don't.)

While perusing CocoPerez's latest updates, I came across a new, tentatively-titled, "trend": shoe pants.

Seems like Converse is making a last-ditch attempt to bring in some more $$ after all the scene kids moved on to Vans. Personally, I think they're a neat idea (and even sort of practical), yet are totally and completely hideous (except for the wooly ones, which are kinda cute, in a 5-year-old sorta way).

What do you think?

017. | Before you pass by, will you pause to break my heart?

Whoo-ey, the past couple of days have been hectic.

(+) spending two whole days with my lovely (and lively) friend K, who has moved away *tear*
(+) spending many an hour playing video games, including (but not limited to) such exciting events as running over prostitutes, shooting up policemen, getting lit on fire, singing/screaming at the top of my lungs, banging on a plastic drum set, yelling angrily at re-spawning pirates, and earning lots of $$
(+) going out for lunch with friends and sitting in J's section, which led to everyone present laughing at ridiculous volumes and smiling so hard their faces hurt; afterwards, rearranging the cash tip on the table into an evil smiley face
(+) purchasing season one of THE BEST SHOW EVER, aka GLEE on DVD (I practically creamed my pants right there in the store when I saw it)
(+) watching Saw 5 for the zillionth time and hypothesizing with K what we would do put in a similar situation; then, laughing at all the plot holes - and STILL ending up confused at the end of the movie
(+) ODing on Monster drinks and laughing my ass off at 4am

Unfortunately, all of these great things led up to one giant FAIL:

(-) getting less than 8 hours of sleep in the past 3 days, and then working a shift with my least favorite supervisor (and person) in the world. To make things even more terrible, the pool was crazy-busy and a lady came in, absolutely drunk, and then tried to swim. (Good thing I didn't have to jump in and save her - I might have fallen asleep during the process.)

Oh well. It was totally worth it. >:D
----
As I write this, I'm cuddled up in the computer chair underneath a navy blue Snuggie (and really, it's not the most beautiful color ever, but it's a choice between red, blue, or puke green). Laugh all you want, but when you're freezing cold 24/7 and live in rural fucking Alberta during the wintertime like I do, they're pretty much the best ever. I admit that it's a LOT too big for me, and that I can't walk with it on because I'd break my nose from tripping, but still - j'adore!

^ My experience, minus the penis.

- Will post New Years' resolutions tomorrow, (hopefully) along with a best/worst of '09 feature and much, much more! (Oh Lord, am I tired. Now I'm starting to sound delusional. T.T)

06. | It's not me; buried wreckage, my soul. It's not me, so who am I now?

I have been trying to come to grips with my feelings for Lady Gaga for quite some time now. 1)Do her outfits make me want to overdose on LSD so that the color and pattern combinations seem reasonable? 2)Does she remind me too much of a coked-up Christina Aguilera to actually be able to look at her without the lyrics to "Dirrty" popping into my head? And, most importantly, 3)Do I admire her ability to make even Adam Lambert look like the best-dressed celebrity in America?

The answer to all of the above questions is, undoubtedly, "yes". But I have to admit - I have gone 'gaga' for Gaga.
